Powder Keg Stewgrass Brings Contemporary Bluegrass to SICA Stage

On Friday, June 29, the final concert of the popular summer series JCB Friday Night Live will feature Powder Keg Stewgrass. The band is recognized for their bluegrass sound that is young and contemporary.

The JCB Friday Night Live performance will be on the Don Hill Outdoor Stage at the Southern Indiana Center for the Arts beginning at 7pm.  The concert is free and open to the public and Powder Keg Stewgrass will play until 9 pm.

The audience is encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets, and outside food and drink is welcome.

This band will be a great closing act to a very successful concert series this summer,” said SICA executive director Warren Baumgart Jr.  “We’ve had great weather every Friday night, and this Friday promises to be another gorgeous summer evening.”

Elements of Jazz Returns to Friday Night Live

SICA and JCB are glad to announce the return of Elements of Jazz to the Don Hill Stage at SICA.

Friday, June 22, will be the fourth outdoor JCB Friday Night Live concert of the summer.   The popular jazz ensemble will take the stage at 7 pm. The concert is free and open to the public.  Featuring a repertoire of light jazz, swing and jazz standards, Elements of Jazz will play until 9 pm.

“Having Elements of Jazz at the JCB Friday Night Live concert is almost an annual tradition and folks from around the region look forward to coming out for their concert,” said SICA Executive Director Warren Baumgart Jr.

The audience is encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets, and outside food and drink is welcome. The contemporary bluegrass music of Powder Keg Stewgrass will be featured on Friday, June 29.  This new band has been making a name for itself in the region with a fresh bluegrass sound.

Beatles Music at JCB Friday Night Live

Friday, June 15, will be the third outdoor JCB Friday Night Live concert of the summer.

At 7 pm Beatles tribute band Rubber Revolver will hit the Don Hill Stage at the Southern Indiana Center for the Arts in Seymour, Indiana.

The concert is free and open to the public.  Featuring a repertoire of classic Beatles music, Rubber Revolver will play until 9 pm.  The audience is encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets, and outside food and drink is welcome.

Elements of Jazz will return to the stage again this year on Friday, June 22.  Performing light jazz and  swing,  Elements of Jazz has been a popular tradition at SICA year after year.

MEET JUSTIN AT HIS ART OPENING
Justin the horse, whose bright colored paintings are currently on exhibit in our main gallery, will be visiting SICA on Friday, June 8, at 5:30 pm. The reception is free and open to the public.

“We are encouraging families to come,” said Warren Baumgart Jr., SICA executive director. “Justin loves to meet his fans.” Justin is a purebred Fresian owned by Adonna Combs. Combs and Justin will be demonstrating how they work together to create his artwork.

The meet-the-artist reception for Justin will last until 7 pm. After the reception the JCB Friday Night Live concert will begin at 7 pm. The public is invited to stay for a free outdoor concert performance by the Reunion Band.

Justin’s work is on display at the SICA gallery Tuesday through Friday from noon to 5 pm and Saturday 11 am to 3 pm. Admission is free. Many of Justin’s paintings will be for sale. The exhibit will run through June 30.

JCB Friday Night Live Summer Concerts Are Back!

Friday, June 8, will be the second outdoor JCB Friday Night Live concert of the summer.

At 7 pm the Reunion Band will hit the Don Hill Stage at the Southern Indiana Center for the Arts in Seymour, Indiana.  The concert is free and open to the public.

Featuring a classic rock repertoire, the Reunion Band will play until 9 pm.  The audience is encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets, and outside food and drink is welcome.

Before the concert begins there will be a reception in the SICA Gallery for Justin whose artwork is currently on exhibit there for the month of June.  Justin is a horse and he will be there Friday night to meet his fans and demonstrate his painting technique.  The meet-the-artist reception starts at 5:30 pm and is free and open to the public.  Families are encouraged to come and meet Justin.

On Friday, June 15, JCB Friday Night Live brings to the stage Rubber Revolver.  Calling themselves a Beatles tribute, Rubber Revolver will rock the audience that night with classic Beatles music.

First Concert of Summer Series!

First Concert of Summer Series Opens at SICA!

Friday, June 1, will be the first outdoor JCB Friday Night Live concert of the summer.  At 7 pm the TOG Band (This Old Guitar) will kick off this popular summer concert series on the stage at the Southern Indiana Center for the Arts in Seymour, Indiana.  The concert is free and open to the public.  TOG Band will play until 9 pm and will feature special guests Jessica Kelley and Brilyn Terrell.

It’s graduation weekend,” said Larry McDonald from TOG, “so we plan to have some giveaways for any graduates that come to the concert.”

The audience is encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets, and outside food and drink is welcome.

JCB is sponsoring the 2012 summer concert series with additional support from Hilltop Furniture and Antiques.  Friday, June 8, the Reunion Band will take the JCB Friday Night Live stage.
