FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Although he is originally from the western states, Robert Anderson has fallen in love with the beauty of the landscapes in southern Indiana, and Anderson has used his camera to capture his passion.
“My expressiveness is driven by a desire to call attention to nature’s beauty and subtleties,” says Anderson.
Opening April 1 will be an exhibit of Anderson’s nature photography in the main gallery at the Southern Indiana Center for the Arts.
The SICA gallery is open Tuesday through Friday from noon to 5 pm and Saturday 11 am to 3 pm. Admission is free.
Many prints Anderson’s photographs will be for sale. The exhibit will run through April 30. The Art Center is located at 2001 North Ewing St. in Seymour, Indiana.
“I have found new inspiration for my nature work in the fields, farmlands and parks of the Midwest,” says Anderson. “There is beauty all around us. All you have to do is slow down and look. By so doing, I found out that there is an amazing amount of beauty in the American heartland.”
A meet-the-artist reception for Anderson will be held on Thursday, April 5 from 5:30 to 7:00 pm at SICA. Admission to the reception is free and open to the public.
Along with the gallery, the Southern Indiana Center for the Arts also offers a variety of art classes including painting, drawing, sculpture and pottery, as well as special classes like glass etching, gym shoe painting, and jewelry making. Private lessons are also available. The Art Center is also the home of the only permanent collection of paintings by John Mellencamp and his mother Marilyn.
